Solution To Support A New 14m High Sign
Ground Sun were contracted by specialist signage company, Concept Sign & Display Ltd, to design a foundation solution capable of supporting a new 14m high sign at Gallions Reach Shopping Park.
The ground conditions were very poor with contaminated ground, tidal water and layers of peat in the top 10 metres.
Ground Sun designed and installed a piling solution using helical pulldown screw piles with sulphate resistant grout. This solution meant there was no requirement to remove any soil from the pile bores, thereby negating the need to manage the contaminated ground/water.
Six screw piles were installed to a depth of 14 meters, using a mechanical digger with hydraulic drive head attached.
Ground Sun also supplied and installed the reinforcement, secured and positioned the holding down bolts for the signs, and poured the concrete.
