Ground Sun designed, supplied and installed a screw pile foundation solution for this rear single storey and side extension for this ground floor flat in a terraced house in North London.
This was a restricted access site, ideal for screw pile foundations. Also, building regulations required deeper than normal strip foundations – and were suggesting 3m deep foundations would be required. The existing building and neighbouring buildings were founded on 3 brick corbels with a total foundation depth of 300mm. Any excavation below this depth for new foundations, let alone foundations at 3m deep would have been dangerous with the risk of structural movement to existing properties.
Ground Sun installed 14 screw piles, together with RC ring beams and pile caps.
